What is Reiki
Reiki takes a hands-on, hands-off approach to healing, where it originated in Japan. How we at Paw Face interpret its meaning, is that it translates to the "universal life of energy". We believe that all living beings have positive or negative energy flowing through them.
We as people know from our own experiences, that when life energy is high, we feel healthy, well balanced, and are less likely to feel ill. However, when it is low, we tend to be less resistant to illnesses and can appear stressed, agitated, or distant, this is true for animals as well.
Reiki is used to complement all methods in medicine, including both conventional western and traditional healing. It helps free imbalances, allowing for new harmonious patterns of health and wellness to emerge.
Please note that Reiki is NOT a cure or substitute for required veterinary care.
How it works
The practitioner channels healing energy through their hands and onto your pet to promote health. This technique allows your pet to control their treatment style, either by accepting Reiki from a distance or settling themselves against our practitioner’s hands. Crystals and pendulums are well-used instruments within Reiki, as they assist in the natural flow of energy of Reiki.
Commonly known benefits of Reiki include:
- Addressing physical, emotional and spiritual inconsistencies
- Promotes relaxation to assist in reducing stress
- Complements both conventional and alternative healing
- Promotes energetic harmony and well-being
- Improves behaviour problems and anxiety-related issues
- Helps to facilitate the transition of terminally ill animals
- Encouraging the healing process post-surgery and soothes the pain
Our practitioners will start by discussing your pet's history, current environment, and personality to thoroughly understand how Reiki can assist their overall well-being. They will then take the Hands-on, Hands-off approach in healing to promote your pets' overall well-being. Know that it is a common occurrence that during our session, your pet may feel a deep state of peace. Following the consultation, our practitioner will discuss with you simple methods to help promote your pet's health and wellness.
The frequency of sessions depends on each pet and their individual requirements. For some health issues, they can be resolved in two or three sessions, where others may take ongoing treatment.
